Inspirational source for beautiful skin. The multi-ethnic nation Burma (Myanmar) is rich in traditions, customs and rites. The remarkably smooth skin of Burmese women is one of these traditions. The Thanaka tree, also called Elephant Apple Tree, provides the answer to this phenomenon. The wood of the Thanaka tree is very hard, slightly yellowish and gives off a pleasant scent. Since 2000 years, the bark of the Thanaka tree has served as the source for beautiful and smooth skin in Burma. Dermatologist Dr. Bernhard Rohde from Hamburg has even proved its efficacy scientifically.

The use of Thanaka: On the water-wetted rubbing stone, grind as much bark from the Thanaka log*) as required. In doing so, place the piece of wood horizontally on the rubbing stone. Depending on the amount of water, a more or less homogenous paste is produced. Apply this paste to cleaned facial and/or other skin areas. The color will turn slightly yellowish which, however, neither affects your complexion nor textiles of any kind.

Application areas For sun protection during the whole day provided that you have applied enough paste. For overnight skin care the paste is long lasting and easily removable with warm water. Please store the damp Thanaka log horizontally and uncovered to better evaporate the contained moisture. This prevents possible quality impairments of this natural product. Depending on the frequency of application, one piece of Thanaka easily lasts for 3 – 6 months. |
